EDEN EDUCATION

The team behind Eden Renewables is proud to have developed an industry-leading educational support program linked to our community solar farms. As of 2023, 1,630 students in the Capital Region have benefited from the program and $38,000 in scholarships have been awarded so far.

Our education program is offered to schools in our host communities and funded with a few thousand per year by the community solar farms. Participation doesn’t cost schools anything. View the school districts currently benefiting from the program.

We aim to give children the chance to learn beyond the school grounds and gain knowledge and ‘ hands-on, minds-on’ experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) subjects. They will learn about the benefits of renewables, carbon consumption, the impact of climate change, ecology, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship with our lesson plans that meet state educational standards including Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core.

Our goal is for local schools to embed these opportunities into their day-to-day learning, and for children to gain greater awareness as consumers and aspire to careers in Green STEM fields, jobs that benefit the environment.

Local primary school pupils met scientists from Lancaster University at Park Farm solar farm developed by Eden in Leicestershire to learn about the broader benefits of well-managed solar farms.

SITE VISITS

Grade level: Kindergarten - 12th Grade
Timeline: Offered during the school year

We will work with your school to coordinate field trips to our community solar farms. Organized by our education facilitator, each visit will be tailored to supplement your current curriculum.

We will provide transportation, a health and safety briefing, a risk assessment, on-site activities and resources, and a workshop before and/or after the field trip. These trips can be used to cover aspects of science, social studies, English, math and other subjects.

WORKSHOPS & VIRTUAL LEARNING

Grade level: Kindergarten - 12th Grade
Timeline: Offered during the school year

When field trips aren’t possible, we offer workshops which are delivered in schools by one of our trained educators. Depending on the lesson plan, workshops can also supplement a field trip.

We will work with teachers to design a workshop and tailor lesson plans to ensure topics and activities are relevant to their class.

When children can’t be in classrooms, we offer virtual learning to engage students from the comfort of their own home.

Green stem career webinars

Grade level: Kindergarten - 12th Grade
Timeline: Offered during the school year

Using Teams or Zoom live to your classroom students will hear from several people in the solar industry and learn about their key skills and career path. Our educator will host the webinar and help break down any preconceived notions about different roles and career paths. The students are then able to ask questions. This is suitable for 7th Grade upwards.
